École des Sables, Toubab Dialaw

Ecole des Sables in Senegal, the International Center for Traditional and Contemporary Dance in Africa, is both a school of theoretical and practical education and a research laboratory, a place for meetings and exchanges, conferences and residences artistic. It was created in 1998 by Germaine Acogny, and her husband Helmut Vogt. Since then, Ecole des Sables regularly organizes professional training courses bringing together dancers and choreographers from Africa, its Diaspora and the world. The workspace consists of two large dance studios, one with a sand floor and the other with a professional western dance floor. The Center also has a modular conference room to host seminars, conferences and dance classes / creations. The school has 24 accommodation bungalows with a total capacity of 72 people divided into three “villages”. It is located in Senegal next to the coastal village of Toubab Dialaw, 50 km south of Dakar.  > MORE
